Remembrance

Class 4 were asked, by Mrs Bronnert from St. John’s church, to take part in the Act of Remembrance this year by writing a prayer or poem for each soldier from our village who lost their life while fighting in World Wars one and two. The children really enjoyed learning about each individual soldier and also locating some of their gravestones within our churchyard.

Each child wrote the name of their soldier and their poem or prayer on a forget-me-not and these were then displayed in church. One member of the congregation during the Remembrance Day service was the niece of one of the soldiers and she was very touched by the work the children had done and even got to take home with her the forget-me-not that had been written for her uncle. The work the children had done touched the lady so much she has since written a letter of thanks to the school and enclosed a photograph of her uncle.

Well done Class 4, you have done our school proud!
